This play provocation was set up with the intention to support the children's interst in building and construction. Children will be able to playfully explore and investigate the properties of objects, as well as experiment with action/reaction, and cause/effect.
Here we have two children from our playroom experimenting the schema of 'orientation' by playing 'Ophtalmologist Office.' One child covered their eyes with the spatula and named the letters on the panel. They shared, "I know all the letters because I know the 'ABC' song!"
This is an example of children becoming familiar with the sign systems of language as part of multimodial literacy.
